so that means no downloads
so now i have to build it myself if i want have a usable phone

I use #ViperOS for my phone. Resurrection Remix is a decent one but has limited selection. If your phone is old enough, #ReactOS might be an option.
It's kind of tough to make specific recommendations without a particular phone. Your best bet is to search "[your phone] custom ROM" and see what comes up. There are custom ROM enthusiasts who post about them on forums.

After our conversation last week, I dug more into custom ROMs and realized ViperOS seems to have gone defunct. I installed Resurrection Remix and so far it seems similar to LineageOS.
