I just listened to OK Computer for the first time. I am very embarrassed that it took me so long. I can see why people compare radiohead to muse, though I'd still say they have pretty distinct sounds.
@kingu_platypus_gidora Ah man, I actually really quite enjoyed it! I was working at the time, however, so it's not like it had my total attention. Are you a Radiohead fan in general?
Nope, did not knew them at all and thought maybe I was missing something.
Some say they became better with time so I might listen to newest stuff some day.
@kingu_platypus_gidora I knew a few of their hits, but I hadn't sat down and listened to a proper album before. I do quite enjoy Thom Yorke's voice TBH. I def enjoyed it enough to listen again. I stopped listening to new music a while ago and I'm trying to do something about that.
I know a lot of early Muse was seen as a Radiohead knockoff when they came on the scene. I really love the first three Muse albums, but I start to lose interest after that. I know a lot of people enjoy their later stuff but I just feel like it lost some of the raw energy they had in the beginning. Absolution was a really important album for me!
@hypolite @kingu_platypus_gidora Ahhh I see, yeah they absolutely have similar vocal styles. However I'm yet to hear a Muse song that matches the energy of say, Citizen Erased, Absolution, New Born, Plug in Baby, Space Demetia, or even Knights of Cydonia as you say. There are definitely songs on Black Holes that are really good, it's just the album where I started to slide out of the grove they were playing. I got into them During the Origin of Symmetry/Absolution period. Changed my life!
